The Judge GD20 is our tribute to the 1980's high gain British sound with modifications for smoother overdrive and a more balanced tone. It's 80's British meets 60's American. It's never too bright and the clean tone is tight. It utilizes 6V6 output tubes for a total of 20 watts of output and offers a lightweight design that doesn't compromise on volume for gigs. Hot-rodded British Preamp and a classic American power amp in small package. Great for clean and mid-gain as-is, but this circuit loves to be pushed with pedals.
Techie stuff:
Like all JUDGE amps, the GD20 uses an efficient and clean power supply inspired by the work of Merlin Blencowe. This includes removing AC line noise, large filtering, multi-step bias supply filtering, and elevated heaters. All of these features create a very low noise environment allowing your guitar tone to come through without possible phasing out of frequencies due to unwanted noise from entering the circuit.
The GD20 uses custom Pacific transformers, Vishay, F&T, and Sprague capacitors, low noise/quiet/accurate military spec metal film resistors, and large gauge PreBond wire. Speaker wire is large gauge made by Beldon.
