We start with a rare and tested Texas Instruments gold pin germanium transistor to get the coolest tone we could out of this under-appreciated circuit. It's followed by a high gain and low noise silicon transistor. No diode clipping here, it's all germanium transistor tone so it sounds unique and usable all of the time.
Use it as an "always-on," lead boost, overdrive, or fuzz.
